According to many different reports I'm reading, "Feud" has already been picked up for Season 2 (yay!), and the couple next time around will be Prince Charles and Lady Diana (ehhh). I had heard that Murphy was interested in doing Johnny Carson / Joan Rivers next, which would have been very interesting. I wonder what made him (or FX) change his mind?

Especially since we now know the depressed (and anorexic) Diana attempted suicide by throwing herself down the palace stairs etc : o
I don't know how much they can do with that story, given that Charles and many other people involved are still alive, and able to afford some very good lawyers.
That sounds more like a suicidal gesture than a real attempt. The royals do a lot of hunting in their country houses. There are guns everywhere. Just saying, if she wanted to really die, it would not be that hard to do.

I think it would be tougher casting Rivers and Carson, too. I mean I can't see Lange playing Rivers (or anyone else for that matter) - she was quite the personality. (Carson would be easier to cast - probably Evan Peters?) . I think Charles and Di are a safer bet - for now.

Wow. I didn't even remember them having a feud. I'm not sure how that would work since (according to google) Carson hung up on her, and never spoke to her again.
To play Joan, how about her daughter Melissa?

I'd be upset if Sarah Paulson plays Diana. She has her moments, but she's no Diana. I'm not sure who would be a good fit though.

It would be interesting if they dug into all the dirt in Charles' past (supposedly he's bi). Then you have the whole Camilla thing, as well.
On a fundamental level, it might be about the rancor that rises in the divorce process...even for people who once truly loved each other (if the couple in question ever did.) how a legal feud is created when money, feelings, kids and image are at stake.
On a side note, who ever expected grizzly Queen Elizabeth II to live this long????
