Why do people like this movie? I'm legitimately asking. To me nearly every joke seemed forced and it come off like a straight to DVD ABC Family kind of movie. I like the cast for the most part, but this was so poorly written and directed.
shareNow that you mention it, it DOES seem like a Disney Channel/ABC/etc family type movie, I think that's why I do like it-however I've never shelled out $13 to watch in a theater... I may have not liked it so much. It was way better than I thought.
shareI've never seen this movie before, but it's showing (ironically) on ABC FAMILY tonight, so I figured I'd watch it. You're right - it's more like a made-for-TV movie. I thought it was so-so / ehhh and WHY are the Bellas dressed like FLIGHT ATTENDANTS? FREE on TV is a good price, but I wouldn't even pay $5 matinee for it at the theater.

It's an okay movie, if you're in a mood for piffle with musical numbers, and I think it was a hit because it came out at a time when the market that likes lightweight fluff was underserved.
It's lightweight fluff, never pretended to be anything else, and if you're in the mood for something inconsequential you could do worse.
I enjoyed the movie. I loved the song/dance routines and I thought there were many funny scenes. And I am far from being a teenager! :)
