Why are films so poorly directed and photographed these days?

Not to mention lack of story and character development that just means anything that isn't a mindless cgi driven actioner is a soulless borefest.

Did we watch the same film?! Where's the lack of direction, and cinematography? As well as a lack of a storyline and character development? What you say is a soulless bore fest is to me the exact opposite, I absolutely loved this film and its music.

Ruffalo has been a favourite for quite some time, and even Keira Knightley who's not one of my favourite actresses, I thought their acting was absolutely fantastic. I can't remember the last time I saw such a great feel good movie.

I agree with Beja - I really enjoyed this movie. It wasn't life changing but movies of this kind never will be. I found it deeper than a lot of films of this type - I was pleased there was no love story between the two main characters (as there is in Music and Lyrics for example), I liked that there was so much going on in the background - they were showing that everyone has their own messy lives they're just trying to get by in - they're all trying to find their place in life. I really thought the characters were as well developed as they would be in a film of this type. The only thing that bothered me was calling Adam Levines character Dave Kohl - too much of a play on Dave Grohls name if you ask me!

Not to mention lack of story and character development ...
John Carney doesn't know how to direct and tell a story?? Surely you jest? 🐭

Seemed OK to me.

I'm no expert, but . . . .

It seemed ok to me as well.

It's that man again!!

Don't sugar-coat it...how did you feel about the movie?

This movie might have been a bit contrived, but everything else you said I don't see applicable to this film.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?
