Had the story centered on Mark Ruffalo's character, I would have liked it more. I didn't care for or buy the Keira Knightley-Adam Levine relationship, and the music left me cold. 5/10 stars from me.

Box office (worldwide) = $63.5 million
Typically when a movie makes nearly 8 times its budget it is not called a "bomb". I'm curious did you not know the real numbers? Or were you just using the word wrong?

it totally succeeded in not being a hollywood do over, but I think it failed in it's presentation and marketing. This movie had great insight into the act of creativity and enjoyment of making music. None of that was conveyed in the promos. it was a rom com for the promo dept, which it was, but wasn't just that.It did really well at the box office for its budget too and is doing well 3 years later as word of mouth gets round.
