Better than Once?

Just saw the trailer for this and really excited!
I loved Once, the natural and elegant way it was made was such a breath a fresh air and not to mention the music was fantastic!

So has anyone caught some early screening of this?
How was it?

Good movie; Not as powerful as Once though.

I really love this movie! However, it is definitely not better than "Once"---if were talking music! But this movie is definitely funnieršŸ˜ƒ

Cool.

I liked this much better than Once, and loved Sing Street more than this.

Carney ups his game every time!

reply

To me, yes. I enjoyed it much more. But, I very much appreciated the artistry of "Once."

No I think it's weakest of Carney's Music films, although that doesn't mean it's bad. I just don't think it packs punch or the heart of the two films either side of it. Once and Sing Street are just stronger films imo. There's a reason those two films have Broadway musicals done for them and still talked about today for a reason.

I like Begin Again, I like Gregg Alexander's music and it has one of Knightley few good performances since Atonement and Mark Ruffalo is likeable. It just doesn't have that bit of magic to it that Carney's Irish based music films have, maybe it's star studded cast doesn't help it in a way. Having a more unknown cast might have helped it.

It's still a very good film though.

reply

No, it's a corny movie. The music alone in Once makes it better. There's a realism to Once while there's artificiality all over this movie

reply

This is pretty good, but Once was better.
