Jeff Dunham should have been their voices using the voice of his Little Jeff character from the "Unhinged In Hollywood" DVD special. That would've made a great guest voice easter egg

I thought their silence was better. Frankly dummies like that are always going to remind me of a particular Goosebumps book.

It was creepy but logical, like the Chatter Phone in "Toy Story 3" who can only speak through his handset

Ventriloquist dummies only get their voice from their owners; they exist for that purpose. So it makes sense that they're mute without humans around

I love that logic behind them not talking, and it does make them creepier.

I strongly agree with the above responses. I knew those dummies weren’t going to say a word from the second I saw them. It not only makes sense that they would be mute, but it does indeed make them more terrifying (the lady in the movie who got the shock of her life when she saw what was in the baby carriage knows what I’m talking about, haha). It worked for the movie.
