Opening song from Days of Thunder? Why?

Why would Speilberg use Gimme Some Lovin' to open the movie? I immediately associated it with Days of Thunder. Granted, it is my only gripe with the movie but it just seems like a poor choice to open the film with. Besides that I thought the film was fantastic and consider it up there with the best racing movies.

Very unimportant detail.

P.s.: Steven Spielberg didn't make the movie, Ron Howard did.

Perhaps it was a subtle tribute from Ron Howard to Days of Thunder director Tony Scott, who died before Rush was released

Ron Howard's use of "Gimme Some Lovin" in RUSH had nothing to do with DAYS OF THUNDER.

The song was written by British songwriters Steve Winwood, Muff Winwood and Spencer Davis. It was recorded by The Spencer Davis Group (a British group) and was No. 2 on the UK charts in 1966.

It was again recorded by Steve Winwood and the band TRAFFIC in the 70's.

The events in the film take place in the late 60's. RUSH is mainly about James Hunt the British F1 driver and at the time he was racing, GSL was very popular in the UK.

Even though the movie DOT was made before RUSH; The song actually fits better with RUSH.

Guess she didn't like the cornbread either.
