The two things that bothered me about this movie. (I enjoyed it overall)

A cool, refreshing horror flick that takes a cool, self referential look at the genre and toys with the audience without us knowing until the last image.

That said, two things really bothered me.

1. The friend going through the withdrawal was not convincing whatsoever. I thought he was funny, and he wasn't a bad actor. But the directing or writing for the process of withdrawal was significantly underplayed. It was distracting.

2. The lack of freaking out by the main character about the insane things happening around him (I give the druggie a pass cause he's not in his right mind). I mean, all that creepy, supernatural, scary stuff happening, and he is cool and chill as day at the beach. It would be like Freddy showing up in Nancy's dreams and her being like, "Huh, weird... a burnt up child murderer with knives for hands is chasing me. Whatevs. What's in the fridge?"

I have one big gripe about the film: Mike leaves Chris alone -- chained to a wall and completely defenseless -- after two drug dealers prove they are capable of a very serious, lethal level of violence.

I don't believe Mike could rationalize keeping Chris chained after the drug dealers kill the dog. The character is established as being smarter than that.

And is it even worth mentioning how hard it is to buy that Mike was totally comfortable leaving ammo and at least one gun unattended while two violent tweakers bent on revenge hovered around him?
