Rating is too low, should be around 7-7.5

While i dont think this is a masterpiece, there are worse movies with worse performances in the top 250. Im aware that 7.5 score wont put it there, im just saying that having had the chance to see this movie actually twice during the last half a year i would say the performances in the movie are good. Mortensen and Isaac duet/duel is enjoyable, and the story does have some old school thriller elements. Its done quite well. For instance, there was no sex scene or nudity shown although during the story there was the confession about sleeping with another. Which was refreshing. Scenery and cinematography is beautiful. It reminded me a bit of Talented Mr Ripley in that regards.

Sadly, there is no accounting for taste. This is one of those films that has to be viewed by the proper audience to be fully appreciated. I would wager that the demographic slants heavily toward the middle-aged in terms of more favorable reviews. There is subtlety and nuance that a younger, less seasoned audience may not grasp. For the well rounded film lover however, this is most certainly a treat. Isaac is an up and coming star and gives a performance reminiscent of a young Pacino, while Mortensen plays the part of an unraveling con man to a tee. The old school thriller elements, as you mention, are present throughout, and feel quite authentic. And the cinematography is indeed breathtaking. Personally, I had no hesitation rating this one an 8.

The movie would have a much better rating if it was watched only by people who liked it?

Movie was good. While I don't care really about IMDB ratings they never cease to surprise me. It's doing well on RT which is has a history of being a much better indicator of a film's quality anyways.

Don't get why so many people are against this film. I am literally dumbfounded.
