Why didn't he kill Rydal?

He wasn't a killer. He never intended to kill anyone. The private detective hit his head and the wife fell. He only knocked out Rydal in the ruins.

agree with this. chester was a swindler, but not a killer. he only admitted to murder to protect rydal.

He really should have killed Rydal. Tie up a very BIG loose end. Rydal knew what new name he was using. He had to go.
