That Brian De Palma didn't make.
Anyone else think that? I couldn't get that idea out of my head while watching it. I really liked it.
If you don’t know who I am, then maybe your best course... would be to tread lightly.
Except there's no sex, no flashbacks, no dream sequences, no gore, no long tracking shots and pretty much zero suspense.
To me it was treading the same familiar waters as Talented Mr Ripley.
It was more similar to the 1960 version Purple Noon than Ripley 1999 for me, only not as sexy.

One could definitely imagine De Palma giving this film two thumbs up.🐭
I agree, more Hitch than DePalma. It wasn't cheesy and gory enough to be DePalma. What it didn't have was the Hitchcock dark humor or irony.
shareI could see the similarities to Ripley immediately and I didn't know who wrote the book it was based on. Have seen Purple Noon and it was mediocre and banal. The character was totally empty and blank. Alain Delon is infinitely better in L'Eclisse by Michelangelo Antonioni.
shareYes you have a point - the movie did have a De Palma atmosphere, even though he probably would have made a better job. Not that I didn't like it but something is missing - good not great.
