Howard Hughes' Secrets
You might think that after several biographical films and scores of books have been written about him, that all there is to know about this brilliant and eccentric man has been put on the table, well there is more. Howard Hughes had a secret weapon, a Black aeronautical and aerospace engineer named Frank Calvin Mann (1908-1992). Frank met Howard when they were teenagers and Frank designed and installed an autopilot system on Howard's father's biplane. Howard financed his education and Frank was a troubleshooter and engineer on many of Howard's aviation, weapons, and aerospace projects. Frank Mann designed sports cars for Hollywood movie stars and three of his designs were copied by the head of color and design for one of the big three auto companies. Frank received royalties but was told,"Because you are Black we can't give you credit for these cars because White people will not buy them". Frank's biography, "Hidden Genius, The Black Engineer Behind Howard Hughes" contains never before published information on Howard Hughes and is available at Amazon, The kindle version will be free for the next four days until November the 20th.
