Awful Title

A long awaited Howard Hughes project from Warren Beatty, and they title it Rules don't apply ???
Sounds like an 80's romantic comedy. Come on they can do better than that. At least Martin Scorsese The Aviator sounds cool and fits the mystique of Mr.Hughes. Even The Hoax with Richard Gere was a good title. Hopefully it will get changed.

It's not "The BFG" bad, but you're right. It DOES sound like an 80s romcom title. The trailer does little to help me understand what the story is about too. Is it really just a generic, cliche-ridden romantic comedy with Howard Hughes and 1940s Hollywood as window dressing?

If so, smells like a flop to me.

Seeing the title, I thought this was about Hillary Clinton.

Hahahahahahaha I was thinking the exact same thing! Bravo, sir! Well done.

Warlock: What, like you're a big fan of the Fett?
McLane: No, I was always more of a Star Wars guy.

THIS SOUNDS LIKE WOODY ALLEN COMEDY

This movie really did remind me of a Woody Allen movie. I would have guessed he was the Director if I hadnt known otherwise.

2016 title:

Instant attraction: Rules Don't Apply

I'm a 80's romantic

Yeah.

It's a great title considering the premise of the film. The rules never applied to Hughes. Ever.

Forgive my intrude, as I have nothing to comment about the movie, less likely that I will even watch the same. But just looking at the title poster, most of people (specially from EU) would mistake it for another episode of Hercule Piorot.

It looks like a proper (omit the palms and Hollywood signs) VHS/DVD cover for another season of Poirot, well, in his younger days ;)

Agree with the OP, just saw the trailer for the first time and thought looks like a film I would enjoy.

Than the title came up, and thought what an awful title.

Film looks good though.
