Oscar nom predictions, based on the trailer
Cinematography
Art Direction
... and that's all.
I think it might get a best director nom just because it's warren Beatty trying to comeback and the academy loves a comeback story
shareThe Academy does not like old losers. Clint Eastwood hits over $100 million with every movie he directs. He is not directing blockbuster Captain America, or Star Wars, but his movies are watched by a lot of people, and they are usually well regarded.
Warren Beatty gets a hair up his ass that he wants to be Howard Hughes, and he forces people to back him, puts a movie together that nobody likes, and The Academy will kick his wrinkled ass to the curb and ignore him.
I'm predicting a slew of Razzie nominations, actually.
Worst Picture
Worst Director (Beatty)
Worst Screenplay (Beatty)
Worst Actress (Lily Collins, long overdue)
Worst Screen Combo (Collins and Ehrenreich)
Seriously, this film looks like pointless trash, and Lily Collins is the worst actress ever.
That's legit.
shareI didn't have high hopes to begin with, but after that trailer, it's easy to tell it's garbage waiting to premiere. The film seems tonally awkward, in a way that Trumbo did last year only far less charming.
To the user above who mentioned comeback stories, get real. Not with this impending dreck. They didn't nominate Ridley Scott for a decent a Sci-fi film last year; no way will this slip through the cracks.
there will be tons of nominations. doesn't matter whether its go or bad. As long as Warren Beatty is in it you are gonna see Hollywood kiss his ass up to the Oscars. and his wife Annette, she'll get a nom and unlike the other nominees she'll throw big parties and send gifts to the dorks at the academy in hopes that she wins. Pathetic!
shareNo. Saw the movie. No Oscar nods. Although the girl is very appealing--her role is ridiculous, however.
Some nice cameos--Bening, Alec Baldwin, Oliver Platt.
And title is driven into the ground--there's even a song, "Rules Don't Apply"--played FOUR times.
The score is extremely intrusive. As is the very tired cliché of using old songs to create "atmosphere."
No Oscar nods. I saw it last night and it was a snoozefest. About the only interesting aspect of this film is spotting the random cameos by famous actors in bit parts. Ed Harris' might have been the most bizarre considering how he was given almost nothing to do.
