It's easy to be critical

of everyone involved, but if we've absolutely honest with ourselves, what would we have done differently? It's absolutely terrifying what human beings are capable of in situations like this.

I feel like I would have refused the strip search, as that's a policeman's job, not a fast food manager's.

Also be aware that even a police officer can't do that untill they officially charge and arrest you with a crime. With out being arrested the police barely have the right to pat you down for weapons. If a police is asking to search you without arresting you just say no. The police are not being your friend if they are trying to get consent from you to search with out a warrent or an arrest and if your innocent you don't want to comply. The police arn't there to investigate if your innocent they are just supposed to find probable cause and arrest you. In their opinion its up to the courts to decide if your innocent or guilty their job is just to arrest and gather evidence against you.

yea I know what your thinking if your innocent then let the police do what they want. The problem is if you get arrested for something you didn't do your still gonna need to hire that expensive criminal lawyer for when you go to trial and this will show up on your record and even when the courts find you innocent you still have to petition to get the arrest off your record otherwise your gonna be forced to explain the situtation to jobs interviewers.

Exactly - that was the point where any human being with reasonable cranial capacity should have realised something was badly amiss, and refused to proceed. That most of those involved didn’t even question the caller, or insist an officer be in attendance before things went further, is what’s hardest to swallow.

Are you serious??? If we were absolutely honest with ourselves, what would we of done......? Let me tell you.... If I was the young girl, I'd of said I'd of waited for the police. If I was the manager, I'd of also told them I'd wait for them to arrive and that it wasn't my place to do such a thing! Now that.... Is being absolutely honest with myself and you!

Yea I really hate the "You don't know what you would have done in that situtation cause it never happened to you" tick. Its like we have enough prior knowledge to know that we certainly woulden't have acted like the idiots in the mcdonalds there in mountain view kentucky. Not all of us are highschool dropouts like the original poster seems to believe.

the female manager was a nimrod.
The mangers boyfriend was a predator
The girl was in a daze about the whole thing.

The boyfriend went to jail for 5 years but only cause he plead guilty I'm betting.
The manager was awarded $400,000 as McDonalds didn't notify her of past hoaxes.

I always hate the "You wern't in that situtation so you don't know how you would have reacted". Let me tell you my take

I know that cops can't arrest or investigate suspects with out probable cause meaning if a cop pulls you asside and tells you he needs to strip search you that should totally alarm you. I also know a detective woulden't have some layman investigate a crime because any evidence that laymen finds will be in inadmissible in court. IE if you find drugs on some one you can talk about it if your called into court but the physical evidence woulden't be admitted in court unless the defense lawyer is a total nimrod. Likewise I also know a detective woulden't be investigating a crime at that level over the phone. If their at the point of wanting to search the employee that the detective will need to be here in person etc.

I also know that even if I got a court order that said I had to strip search a woman or compel her to perform sex acts on me I'd know that order was illegal and it would be a crime for me to comply.

I also know that there are plenty of phishing scams that instictivly lead me to not divulging identifiable information such as social security number of me or even general information about the people around me. For example some one claiming they were looking for my sister even if they say her name I'd be like "How did you get this number?" so I'd already be deeply suspicious of some one claiming to be a detective.

Its actually terrifying how little these people knew about their own rights as well as the rights of others around them.

Well said.

Yes, the moment the "officer" would ask me to do a strip search i would have stopped complying and told him to take her into custody for that.
