In the opening scene, after Banderas sort of hands the knife to the robot, the camera does a close-up to show some liquid dripping from the robot's hand.
Can some explain what the significance of that scene/detail is?

Well I noticed when he took the knife out if the sink, it had liquids grease which Banderas somewhat shook off. However the amount on the table seemed to be too much. So the other answer is when the robot grasped it; he caused some damage to the robot which then leaked fluid; which makes no sense, since the robots outer shell should be hard enough to not have been damaged. So you go back to answer one but they miscalculated on how much liquid was still dripping from the knife.
