poor Banderas

He once was an actor, impersonating roles that dealt with drama. Reflecting something about human condition.

Now he is in between advertising for 'chewing gum' and this very badly executed, pastiched, 'automata' movie'. How boring.

Must be diffiuclt for him to shave every morning.

Ah no, Mrs. Griffith recompenses him with a new 'Harley Davidson' every year.
So one can have a betrayed life.

But really: I felt betrayed by this movie.
I am not a consuming machine ...
And I don't like to be insulted ...

I was actually glad to see Banderas in this role. It seemed to me to be a half-way decent vehicle ... not Hollywood big budget blockbuster-type, which could really have made it great it there had been a particularly top-notch screenwriter. But I thought it was a really pretty good production for what I'm guessing was a Banderas-Griffith-driven independent. Plus, there were all sorts of great actors in it ... McDermott, Forster. Did you notice in the credits, Javier Bardem played the blue robot, whoever that was?

I agree with you that the movie could have been more impressive; I think it could have been great. But I think it will become something of a cult favorite. And I could see it being one of some things that might catapult Banderas back into top billing, with a new life as a sexy older hero-detective-action hero whatever. Really pretty cool sci-fi, I thought. I mean, and don't have to have a lot of money if you can make the screenplay and the location work for you, as they did to a large degree. Although those robots moving around as much as they did must have cost a lot or taken a lot of time doing the animation.
