After the car crash and they start dragging in the desert ...

they should have went over the ridge and found a futuristic city built by the Robots but for robots. Without Humans to protect or worry about, they are able to explore life as a robot and have their own music, art, buildings, etc.

As Jacq explores with Cloe, they meet the Boss Robot and he explains how without the requirements for humans they were able to figure out how to get around the 2nd protocol and grow exponential and bringing robots from the city back to here to free them. Jacq explains his wife is about to have a baby and needs to get back to the city no mater how bad it is. its the human world.

They build him a car and he is able to leave and return in time to see his baby born and name her Cloe to remember her by

I like your ending better.

Actually, I was expecting something like this, but on a smaller scale. I figured that when they got to abandoned crane station there would be other robots who had made their way there and it would be a whole robot community.
