Homages....

I noted quite a few homages to "Blade Runner":

1) The boiling eggs

2) The turtle on its back, in the sand (from Leon's Vioght-Comp test)

"The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over. But it can't. Not with out your help. But you're not helping."

3) I haven't gone back to look at Blade Runner, but I would swear the movements of the police car in its first appearance were made to mimic the flying cruiser's moves in BR.

4) And the more obvious ones: Giant floating balloons, "holographic" projections, the desolation, the rain, the tears in rain, etc...

Anyone got anything else?

The wife's name and the love interest in Blade Runner share the name 'Rachael'

Cleo had a Pris haircut and Wallace's gun looked like Deckard's at a quick glance

Go ahead and read the Asimov "I, Robot" collection. I dare you. As much as I love PKD, this movie owes much more to those works.

reply

I didn't pick up any PKD vibes in this movie. Everyone pretty much knew who they were. It had a lot of Asimov of course, just done in a much more depressing way than I associate with him.

reply

Agreed, Bunnymen - very much like Asimov's robot stories.

What hump? 

28:50 Jack is looking for a clue in the underground pasagge.

There is a polaroid in the ground. A polaroid of a origami unicorn. That is a homage. Not a desolated city, not the rain, not a police car, not the holograms.

(Thank you, guys!)

"homages"??? "mimic"????? What is wrong with you? How about plain and simple PLAGIARISM (which I hate)? Call it what it is. What about the transparent rain coats, dark, wet, rainy environments that flatout copy Blade Runner? This movie is very bad and weak, still it plagiarizes the masterpiece Blade Runner left and right. Shame on the no brain spanish director.
