After A Certain Point They Just Didn't Know Where To Go

With the story that is. I've seen several films like this where it starts out good but it just gets to a point where they no longer know what to do with the story. I felt AI was another film like that. For this particular film I felt it went off the rails as soon as he was taken to the desert.

"You have the right to remain silent, so shut the *beep* up!"

Agree 100 percent!

Yeah that is true. The movie is incredibly boring. Especially in the desert. Nothing new happens. Boring boring boring. Always 4 useless robots that can't even pick up a gun and shoot, which irritated me. The movie never gets original.

Actually I thought it was fascinating that even though the robots had EVERY reason to attack or harm a human being throughout the film, they never broke the first rule.
And sure, ok, the desert scene was a bit slow and boring for a brief moment, but just like in the movie Dune, it was the turning point in the story.
If you want fast-paced action robot chase movies then there are plenty to choose from. This one set a certain mood and tone and some tired audiences will just shut off their brain and be put to sleep by it.

Hmmm, I thought Cloe did break the first rule indirectly, when through her driving, the other car chasing them blew up and the guys in it died.

Yes, yes, yes!

It was as if they switched directors and authors in the middle of it! I haven't done any research but if I had to guess I would say some producers didn't like the original plot of the second half (whatever that is) and demanded to have shootouts, damsels in distress and all the other tropes.

- Why introduce Robert Bold to the secret only to take him out in the desert 2 scenes later? Why do they even bother feeding him with anti-radiation pills?
- Why kidnap his wife and baby? What for!?
- Conveniently, all the executives do the dirty work and stupid shootout in the desert themselves!?
- A scorpion/dog without hands and such is their new, ultimate design of super-robots? How is that thing going to build the next genereation of robots!?
- They can build these and repair cars that have been degraded to the bone but cannot reconfigure that lift in a way that it doesn't need to be operated by a robot?
- Stupid shootout
- robots making random animal noises

And generally a plot going nowhere.
