Why the low ratings?

This film is a thing of beauty. There is not much new to the AI genre, but when i'm left with gratifying philosophical musings well after watching a move, i would consider it a successful piece of art.

When the robot said, who made you? You don't know, you just appeared. Just like us.

The life concept is a brilliant one.

Great film.

Aesthetically, sure. Thing of beauty. I can see it.
Other than that, there's just nothing particularly interesting or thought provoking that hasn't been done (and been done better) by other movies already. And when it tries to do something new, it just doesn't work.
It's pretty wrapping paper around a secondhand toy.

To me, anyway.
