Would an actor playing in a re-enactment in a documentary feature.....

....be eligible for an acting Oscar?

I am not saying anyone in this documentary, or any other documentary that involved re-enactments that I have ever seen, deserves any Oscar recognition.
But with the Oscars just a day past and having just watched The Imposter today (excellent flick), the question popped into my mind.

Stupid question....I know. Just wonderin'.

Acting in a documentary re-enactment is usually only a few scenes, which means there isn't much chance to show off your acting skills. Maybe if the acting really stands out and there's many scenes, then the Academy might consider it. That would be weird and cool if it happened.

I know documentaries are eligible for Academy Awards in categories other than best documentary. The documentary "Chasing Ice" (2012) was nominated for best song and "An Inconvenient Truth" (2006) won best song. The documentaries "Woodstock" (1970) and "Hoop Dreams" (1994) both got nominations for best editing.

Maybe we should make a list of documentaries that got Oscar wins or nominations in non-documentary categories.

It's slightly confusing the way imdb has the cast displayed but for 90% of the movie it really was Bourdin and the sister and so on that we were seeing the ?actor? credits are for some of the reenactments like sitting in the airport before leaving for the U.S. and cutaway scenes like that
