Who was Jason?

Some articles say Jason was the mother's brother, then some say it was her son. Then in the documentart it was stated it's Nick's half brother. I am confused and what was the age of Jason. He seems so much older than Nick.

Jason was Nick's much older half-brother

One problem I had with the film is that it rarely showed pictures of Jason, which kept me trying to remember how he looked like and whatnot. It kind off detracted the suspense or creepiness during the last section where Jason's history is being questioned.
