What was the point of the 70's cop show shots?
I was thinking "WTF does Kojack have to do with any of this? At all!"

shareMy take on it is that the filmmakers wanted to put us into Frederic Bourdin's head at that moment when he was calling American police stations. Most European's image of the American cop/police station comes from tv shows (like "Kojak", "McCloud" etc). For me, as a European, the point of using numerous old TV-shows seemed PERFECTLY clear and understandable. It was a good - and fun - way to put us into Bourdin's thinking.
shareThanks, I like your explanation - that makes sense!
And Captain Dobey from Starsky and Hutch was there too - Don't forget him!
