Oscar Snubbed!
This is the big upset of the Oscar's for me, along with Paul Thomas Anderson getting ignored.
And now, to ride Mrs O'Reilly!

I was about to post the same thing, I'm amazed this didn't get an oscar nomination for best documentary, in fact, its probably the best film I've seen the past year tbh (granted I've missed a lot of films, but still...), very disappointed, I just hope Searching for Sugar Man wins it now.
shareThis was a television production, and as such isn't eligible for an Oscar. It was a joint production between Channel 4 in the UK and A&E in the US. It was nominated for a few BAFTA's which are considered the "British Oscars" of sorts. The British director did win one BAFTA, too.

Agreed!!!
I cannot believe that "The Imposter" and "West Of Memphis" missed out On Oscar noms!
Academy is obviously going for more softer/conventional options.
Yeah, I would have liked to have seen "West of Memphis" and "The Imposter" on the Oscar Nominations list too. Hope Searching for Sugar Man wins - it has its flaws, but was one of the best, and most moving, documentaries I saw in 2012.
I think the WM3 thing is way too polemical, too loaded with widely differing opinions, and probably too truly depressing for the Oscars. They rarely like their tragedy to be hard-hitting in reality, even in fiction it often has to be tempered by humour (American Beauty) or politicised (Hurt Locker).

I don't know. I thought this was good, but not necessarily Oscar material. I agree on PTA though.
