Ending was pessimistic (spoilers)

They're taking away the best humans to go live in that alternate dimension. So alternate dimension gets better and better while the rest of us suffer. Screw that.

It was a pretty dumb flick.

I didn't get that vibe. Remember, all the talk at the end was about making OUR world a better place.

I got the impression that before the borders were sealed, people "commuted" between the two dimensions. And from what I understand, there was some deleted dialogue that established that several inventions developed in Tomorrowland were launched in the real world--including the Internet.

So I got the impression that it was going to continue like that, with ideas developed in TL deployed in ours, to improve it--and someday, the plans to open Tomorrowland to the rest of the world would be back on track.

If you guys didn't realize that those people were brought there to make the earth better than I really don't know what to tell you. You seriously thought they were there just to make some alternate universe better?

Quite right, Jeff. It seemed pretty obvious to me too.

It's really just a glorified version of MIT or Silicon Valley. So lets not make too big a deal about people going there.

The other dimension already had androids and things. Tomorrowland was to be a place where special people from Earth could meet up and work together and create things then return to Earth as super-scientists and super-artists like Tesla and da Vinci. Frank Walker was brought over early but the whole thing was cancelled and he was forbidden from revealing things.

The other dimension wouldn't benefit from Tomorrowland until Earth was more developed.

"Need" is just a fiction. As is "should", "must", "value" and "importance".

I didn't get that vibe. It was more about making OUR world better than creating a Rapture society.
