I didn't like it either, and to be fair every actor even the greats have a turkey or two as a film

Since then think he was better in things like Savages and True Detective

well...keeping an open mind :)

besides, sometimes i blame the director for the actor's bad performance. how else can one justify an actor being awful in a movie and the next be so good has to be nominated? O_o

I've only seen him in the show Friday Night Lights. Great show. His performance was underwhelming, but I think his character was supposed to be that way. I'm not sure how he'll do in this, but I'm willing to give him a chance.

I think everyone's gonna have to just give the casting directors the benefit of the doubt with this first film. Let's withhold judgement until after we've actually seen it.
