why do they call them "haunts"?

I've never heard this before. They said they were going to a haunt or there was a good haunt they went to, etc. Who says this? You go to haunted houses or the haunted forest or something. "Hey we are going to the haunted trail later" or whatever. Whoever says "I am going to a haunt tonight"?

I agree, I never heard that term before

I never heard it called haunts either. But maybe it was a term in the film for the wording. It would sound pretty silly if they worded it in the trailer as: "the haunted house came to them." even though it does contradict The actual definition the the word haunt.

Actually haunts is exactly what they're called by people who stage these types of things.

Just remember, life without me would be even more unbearable!

It's just short for haunted house.

I'm just saying "haunt" is a verb. You do it, you don't go to it.
