Gladys, secret agent?

Seriously? The show is so grounded in the reality of war, they had to go OSS with Gladys? They don't know how to make extra special anymore, do they?

Does that sound realistic to anyone? I know intelligence was part of the war but it feels so out of place here, especially with how contrived it all looked with Gladys.

Know what you mean--it did seem a bit contrived.

But I suspect they are trying to show us, though, how munitions plants would have been seen as prime target for spies to try to infiltrate. Just another illustration they are throwing in of the time and place.

It seemed as though the reason they approached Gladys was because she was very smart and twigged something wrong with the woman's approach and then also confronted her on the factory floor, causing her to be removed.

So at that point, the handler may have thought he needed to bring Gladys into the fold rather than let her simmer outside and keep causing him problems.

If Gladys hadn't thought anything of the woman's questions in the lady's room, then they may never have approached Gladys later....they needed Gladys to stop questioning things and bringing attention to their operation.
