the problem with bomb girls...

I very much enjoyed this show the first season it aired. The stories were character driven and balanced. The second season it became very Gladys heavy with too much focus on her character. It seemed there was no follow through with previous story lines and the writing was simply just to get a reaction (of any kind) from the audience. Sadly I feel the result was indifference. I'm sad to see what this show has become.

I completely agree. I really enjoyed the first season and would not miss a second of each episode. I found myself getting bored and doing other things while watching the second season, especially the latter half of the season. While I like the Gladys character well enough, I actually think she's one of the least interesting. The parts of the show with the British agent (forget his name already) were boring and sometimes confusing. And his accent sounded so fake to me. I am disappointed to hear they've cancelled the show, and will likely tune in to see the movie to see how they wrap up the storylines. It's a shame...there is so much more that could be done with this show!

Agreed. They focused everything on the least interesting character, imo.

There may have been "nice Italian" girls, but that's not who he fell for. I have friends who grew up in the 1950s/1960s. The community they lived in was mainly Irish and Italian Catholic, with a sizable Jewish population. Interfaith dating was frowned upon, but still happened. The heart wants what it wants. Also, once Marco kissed Vera, they both realized it was wrong/a mistake.

I much preferred the Marco/Lorna romance. It's too bad it was cut short and she was forced to continue in her dead marriage w Bob.
