I liked Gladys until...
I really liked Gladys's character. Normally she would be the type of character I rolled my eyes at(rich girl playing tough) but she was a well rounded character and had a good sense of integrity. holding her own with her fiancee, especially when they talked about Hazel/Lucas. But then she got in involved with the Corbett kid and I just thought she is so despicable. I understand she worries James may be unfaithful overseas but she doesn't know if that's the case, or just her imagination, and I liked that they had become allies and lovers so I would have thought she would have the decency to not mess around with another guy (especially a douche like the Corbett guy). Normally I can't stand her mom, but she was right. When it's all over, it's just a bunch of tawdry memories, especially if James does the upright thing and doesn't cheat on her overseas, then she is a hypocrite. The Corbett guy is a scared, reckless "frat boy" who has little respect for even his own mother and I lost my respect for her then and there on that lawn where she almost went all the way with him. Sure, she didn't do much, but she would have if the cop hadn't found them. There are a lot of double standards on the show, because that's how it was back then, but she was so hurt when she found out about Hazel, so she should think about how James would feel if she went "all the way" with that guy. They were finally honest with each other and now she is really acting like a spoiled kid. She lost her integrity, for me, and just became another silly spoiled girl.
Ugh, that really boiled me, I can't stand her now...on to the next episode!
