i haven't seen this show, but the concept looks very similar and I almost can't help but think it's a piss take.

I've never seen Darkplace, but after reading a little bit on it I'd say no, the shows aren't even close. One is a spoof comedy, the other a medical drama. many shows have minor things in common, doesn't mean one is a ripoff of the other.

I've seen both, and I can't help but think that the only piss take is the original post.

I also can't help but think how much better "Saving Hope" would be with the addition of Matt Berry.

Well, they do both take place in a hospital and... nope that's all they have in common on any level.
