I don't remember Glenda Braganza's character being written out...?

Dr. Melanda Tolliver (recurring side character and eventually Zach's main squeeze in Season 3), she just kind of disappeared from the show between Seasons 3 and 4. Am I remembering wrong (or not remembering something), was there an in-show answer as to why she left ? I'm used to Dana Kinney/Wendy Crewson and Dawn Bell/Michelle Nolden weaving in and out of the seasons, along with Nurse Jackson and a couple other noteables...but Melanda ?

In the first episode this season Zach or Maggie mentioned she had transferred and she and Zach broke up a few months earlier. Not sure of Glenda's reason for leaving but the time jump made it easy enough to write her character out. I would have liked to see her and Zach work through his issues of dealing with Joel's death.
