Maggie's lawsuit?

I'm American, so I don't know how it works in Canada, but how could that malpractice lawsuit have continued against her once they were able to prove that it was the fault of another doctor in a different country? This suit was shown to be without merit, and in the US, would never be allowed to proceed once it was obvious Maggie had nothing to do with it. Does the law work differently in Canada? Does anybody know?

I'm also an American and I tried to look it up on Google. Mistake LOL. Too many things came up and I wasn't sure exactly what to look for. Sorry

Lol, yeah, I couldn't find anything, either. Which is why I asked it on here. Thanks for looking, though!

The patient said she would drop the suit/call off her lawyers. But I think you're right, she would have had no case with the evidence they found.

Yeah, I knew she called it off, but there was a stretch of time between when they learned the truth about the towel/second operation and when she dropped the suit where Maggie was still scared of being fired, even though the suit was meritless. And then again this week, she didn't want to do the bullet surgery for fear of being sued again. The writing made it seem like the patient was making a huge decision in calling off the lawsuit, rather than it being the obvious thing to do after it was proven baseless.

I think the fact that the patient was a lawyer made things more nerve wracking for Maggie. She knew she hadn't done anything wrong but some lawyers will raise hell anyway. Charlie dealt with a guy like that a few seasons ago. Then I think that feeling just carried over into this week and made her gun shy, but hopefully Dana helped her and she'll be ok going forward.
