Why does Alex hate Charlie's ability with such vitriol ? It's useful !
We've made it to the end of Season 4 and I feel like barely any headway has been made with Charlie's acceptance of his abilities, but worse, with Alex coming to terms with them. Fair enough, when she believes that the tumor might be the cause of them and that the tumor needs to go because it could potentially kill him. Everything prior to that, though ? She got unnecessarily bitchy about them on a ridiculous number of occasions. Even though Charlie turns out to be right on so many occasions and she has to see that this advantage gives him a leg up in helping his (and others') patients.
At this point, it feels like she's the unreasonably semi-skeptic, almost sometimes willfully blind Scully to Charlie's Mulder (and Charlie could do with getting on board with his abilities and the exploration of them, especially once he saw what psycho-killed-his-wife prisoner guy could do, physically effecting things even while unconsious and in spirit form).
I don't need this show to tweak the balance between straight-up hospital drama with a drop of supernatural medical detective work that much more, because I like its vibe...but a little tweak would be nice, just to allow these characters to feel like they're reacting the way real people might to extraordinary revelations like this, three to four years into experiencing them.
And more characters need to be made aware, so that they're not always covering for Charlie anymore. Who cares if the show risks going off the rails because of it -- be bold and allow forward plot progress (not only where characters' romantic relationships are concerned).
