Question about Alex's "dream"

When Alex is in a coma after the stabbing she dreams about the day her father died. The actress who plays Alex plays her mother in the dream. The dream covers the day Alex's father dies, she goes out shopping with her mother for her birthday party decorations, and then at one point finds her father's body.

In the dream her mother was acting very strangely and kept telling Alex not to go downstairs and disturb her father, who was "resting." We eventually find out that he committed suicide. After Alex finds him, she leaves the room, shuts the door, and pretends nothing is wrong so that she can still have her birthday party.

Do we find out at some point how real this dream was? Is this what actually happened or is it a scenario that is created by the coma? I can believe that at that age, Alex doesn't fully understand what is going on with her father's death and just wants everything to be normal so she can have her birthday party. But did he really commit suicide and did her mother just leave his body there and take the kids out shopping?

Alex's mother didn't know about the suicide, she just didn't want Alex disturbing her father. I think she actually said he was working. But the way she kept saying 'don't go down there' was a bit ominous and confusing.

Alex's father did actually commit suicide, she does some more digging into that matter later in Season 3.

Milo, I've told you again and again - please, don't walk on the chickens!

Alex playing her Mother, who went home during surgery ..... It was Alex who forgot about her Father suicide. Since Alex herself was looking at the younger self. Alex have forgotten that her father committed suicide until she was walking down the stairs & she turns into her spirit older self. Alex older self spirit suddenly remember it. But, when Alex wakes from her coma she forgets....Until, Season 3 Episode 15 when Alex got her father's medical records & learn that he did have lung cancer. Her Father Frank cancer could have to move to his brain & that the reason why he committed suicide. Alex does not know if her Mother knew or did not know before they found him....

I always got the feeling that Alex's father was a mean man and her mother was afraid of him. Money was tight and if she broke something she would get upset and didn't want bother him. Alex wanted the pinata but the mother forgot it and then went back if I recall. I thought that maybe interrupting her father would mean he would hurt her. Also at one point, I thought maybe the mother killed him, because she was tired of his abuse. It did leave many questions for me though

It was Alex, who had the dream when Dawn was performing Surgery on her ..... Not her Mother .....Even though Alex play her Mother .....So, it was Alex interruption of her Mother at the time when her Father die and it was Alex birthday when she was only 6 to 8 years old.....It turn out that her Father had lung Cancer and it has moved up to a brain (S3E15).....Mean?.....Alex remembering a child remembrance her Father when he was sick .....Mean?
No ......I think back then after her Father die, things got tight....I think the dream was real from Alex's point of view.....Yes, her Father did commit suicide...
