Prequel possibilities

Can they just make a prequel already jeez, if any franchise has potential for prequels it's THG

Aren't they dependent on Suzanna Collins? Or can they make a prequel without her?

Unless Suzanne Collins signed away all rights to the characters and the world of
Panem they would have to get her permission. And given her close involvement with
the scripts of the four films it seems she is very protective of this story.

Most authors do not have the rights to their own books until after they make it big, something I didn't know until I had close dealings with a book publisher who was a customer at the place I work for. So unless her previous stuff earned her the clout to have total control over this series, the deal would have been between Scholastic and Lionsgate and she would have been consulted as a courtesy, not a legal requirement.

I just really hope the contract did not allow Lionsgate to call all the shots. I would prefer zero prequels or sequels, but if they have to be made, I'd want her as involved with them as she was with the initial movies.
