WTF??? The first page is litterally only discussing Battle Royal?

Ughh... looking for discussions on the movie - and have to dig through 20 discussions which all seem to say the same thing? F-you people... make 1-2 topic discussions on the BR comparison - that's enough to voice your opinion - then let other people post other things so I can find a discussion that is interesting (and yeah - I get that I'm now part of the problem with this new post - but I wanted to vent.)

Seriously. There needs to be put a filter put in place that won't allow any topic with the words "Battle Royale" in the title to be posted at all.

I agree. If they wanna talk *beep* about The Hunger Games why not do it on the Battle Royale message boards.

Yo dawg - nice to see I'm not alone. 32, and I'm still a BR2 fanatic!

I know it is so annoying.

Which is why ignore is your friend... any and all obvious trolls go there and their topics don't show up.

reply

Bear in mind that most of those posts are by the same person with a number of infantile names like "Monsieur Poopoo", "Dorf Assburgers", or "Mahmood Buttramps". His trolling is at a level of sociopathy that is truly troubling. Most of those threads he writes back and forth to himself.

But, now, we have you to thank for another thread in the long line of comparing the story to Battle Royale.

👿 I know something you don't know ... I am ambidextrous!

It’s obvious that hollywoods cannibalization of Asian properties is already a reality, It’s without a doubt the principal challenge for humanity in the 21st century.

reply

Ugh. Did you point out that The Hunger Games is on a first grade reading level? Hunger Games fans are completely ignorant. I fear for the future of novels and film. XD

We’re in a very different age when it comes to plagiarism. Just 25 years ago, it was pretty trivial for someone who wanted to plagiarize to build an academic or creative career by lifting other people’s works. Today, with advanced plagiarism detection tools, Web searches, scanned books, and so much more, it is getting almost impossible. With increased public access, major Hollywood studios must now acknowledge the foreign films they used to rape and plunder with wild abandon in the faith that nobody would notice.

Actually, Battle Royale 2 is not televised to the outside world. They only show the victor. Rest of it is kept secret.

To say that Collins copy word for word Battle Royale 2 is utterly ridiculous. She admits that her editor told her not to read the book after she discovered it's existence. She was already writing her book by that time. And her book has a completely different feel than Battle Royale 2. To watch Battle Royale 2 for the blood. You watch Hunger Games (especially the newest one) for the story.

And yes it it is very possible for two people on opposite sides of the world to come up with the same idea. The Aztecs had invented Macuahuitl (wooden swords with obsidian edges) while people in Europe had swords before they met.

No Number is best. 3 builds better than 2. 2 loves better than 1 and 1 mind is better than 3.

I've never seen Or heard of BR and came in here to discuss Mockingjay.. Imagine my surprise when 80% of the threads were about some movie I never heard of. Part of me is laughing, but part of me would be annoyed if I cared enough. it reminds me a little of the Karate Kid 3 boards where the pro Terry Silver crowd has taken them over, or Shutter Island where a lot of the talk is whether Leo was crazy or being set up. But I have never seen a board so hijacked. ESP over a movie I have never heard of. I'll make a non BR thread and ask my question there.

So if anything, Hunger Games takes the basic elements of Battle Royale (kids fighting to the death) and builds an entire back story of people yearning for freedom around that element. Also unlike Battle Royale, Hunger Games provides a heroine to carry the story, something that isn't in Battle Royale, where no specific character is the focus of the movie, it more covers the whole Battle Royale.

I saw those movies based on all the threads about them, but they were nowhere as good as the hunger games. the hunger games is the real deal, battle royal is like hunger games -lite.

Like how the R-rated stuff from BR2 has been dumbed down for Americans and made rated PG-13 for the 'tweenie' crowd? Okay. Got it!
