I was surprised by the Brit accents here

I didn't know the Le Mans driver featured here was British, he lived in the USA with his family, YET his son had a perfect British accent as well. Wouldn't the child have the American accent from mixing with the local kids?

Not to mention the British Ford representative, and that guy who was the mechanic who previously starred in a school drama in the UK called Waterloo Road.

In any case, I loved the British representation here, and the driver was hilarious with his yelled insults, etc!

I am saddened by our loss of British accents for over the last 250 years. It makes us look like dotty wankers.

Yeah hard for kids to keep their accents. I too wondered how long they'd been in America.

Do you find the word 'bloody' funny? That's used in Australia as well. 'Bloody hell.'

I don't know I had a friend in school growing up that came from the UK and he really didn't seem to lose his accent until he was in maybe 7th or 8th grade.. by the time he graduated you couldn't have told he had ever had an accent. Now his dad still had a very strong accent... maybe it is a question of what the kid hears as to how long until it fades, if the dad had a strong accent and he spent a lot of time with his dad I would guess the accent would be slower to go, especially in the 60's when kids weren't addicted to TVs

Kids learn and adapt to languages much faster. This is why in the more diverse neighborhoods you can find kinds playing and hear them speak sentences that involves 3 langauges at once because they learned that from friends.

The car was developed in the UK. I was surprised at how inconsistent Bale's Brummie accent was.

The son's accent is inexplicable. He does not have the accent of his father, mother or schoolfriends. Where did it come from?
