Thom Powell's hypothesis makes a lot of sense

How he said the "wood knocks" are actually sasquatches clapping their thick hands in front of their mouths. His impression sounded just like someone banging on a tree. It makes more sense they would do that instead of carrying a perfect knocking stick with them at all times, or immediately being able to find one if they needed it. That's probably why the team rarely gets a response, because they're not doing the "knocks" right.

Do you really think that's why they don't get responses?

It's more likely that they don't get responses because what they're looking for doesn't exist.

I've never seen them go out into the woods where there was a ceiling or a pipe available. Add to that the fact that Tony Orlando has never guest-starred, and you know exactly why their knocking has been fruitless.

In case anybody reading is reference-challenged....

I'm not sure what you mean by 'not a ceiling or pipe available'. There certainly wouldn't be a ceiling in the woods (unless they were in a cave).
