Wood knocks?

Couldn't they sometimes be deer knocks?

if you're talking about them fighting with their antlers, only during mating season, and I'm not sure how much they do that at night, considering how vulnerable that action makes them to predators (sometimes they even get locked together, and die that way), it doesn't seem like something they'd engage in at night, which is when our team do them

For much of the year deer have no antlers, or they are covered with soft tissue, which would probably hurt the animal to knock on a tree with. Their antlers fall off and regrow every year.
