Problems with the film

Relies too heavily on the 1970's dialogue (''Eat shit'' and ''plug it up'') which was not modern for the film's time period. The film in set in 2013 and should have included 2010's slang and social media culture (absent from the film).

Carrie being oblivious to her 'period' should have been changed to her being just upset over it instead. It was believable for a 1970's girl to be oblivious about that but not a 2010's girl. They could have had her act distraught rather oblivious due to her religiously unstable Mother likely to become enraged at her for getting it when she got home.

The ''Prom'' revenge should have been more violent.

The film's main issue is a lack of modernization in the script for the year released it being a remake and all.

I didn't care for the way Carrie moved her arms during and after the prom. I felt it gave the impression she was deliberately causing all this destruction whereas the original made me feel that she lost all control of her powers. That every emotion she'd ever felt from the many people who hurt her was coming out all at once and those powerful emotions were what drove the destruction. I didn't get that from the remake. Her movements made it seem like revenge and made it a bit harder to feel sorry for her.
