I didn't notice any of this, but this makes it worth rewatching the movie. Maybe my mind is too innocent. But I just saw the teacher as caring and friendly.

I didn't notice that either, but. . . A teacher trying to comfort a shunned outcast who looks like Chloe Moretz might seem like he or she is hitting on her, but that might partly be because NO shunned outcast at ANY high school in America looks like Chloe Moretz.
