Is this show about…
…people and objects from alternate timelines merging with our own?
Good acting so far, but wow is the story all over the place. I don’t get why stories can’t be told in chronological order these days.

The scientist:
"The same thing can be in two different states at the same time."
"There's a world in which that particle is black and a world in which that particle is white."
That's quantum superposition and many-worlds interpretation. MULTIVERSE! I think it's about two parallel universes mixing.
Sounds like a show that follows J.J. Abrams' "Mystery Box" model.

They are trying to obfuscate the simple fact that the two astronauts' lives have been switched with their lives from different realities. If they would stop beating around the bush by heavily padding the runtime with boring soap opera crap, it could be a good sci-fi horror or thriller. Eye-roll, facepalm, and ultimately snore, so far, unfortunately.
I'm pretty much agreed! I think I'll wait till the rest of the season is finished before continuing past episode 3, I don't have the patience to wait week by week anymore for the slow burn.
shareJust like Star Trek! TOS episode, Discovery S3 and maybe S5.
shareNow that I am through ep 3 it's a bit more than that. There are scenes where Jonathan Banks is caught talking to a video of himself in another dimension. Plus the space agency's are feeding them lithium and calling it vitamins. Why?
It's more about the observer effect of quantum mechanics rather than totally about alternate realities. The observer effect can affect others around you in certain scenarios based on ep 3. It's carving a different path than the standard tropes. It's nothing new - but it's interesting and the acting is fantastic.
"Plus the space agency's are feeding them lithium and calling it vitamins. Why?"
No doubt folks in this future are still enjoying Carpenter's "Halloween". The agency is taking pains to not make anyone feel like Micheal Meyers
It was russians who fed her with lithium instead of vitamis if I recall correct. It makes no sense and I feel like it's a red herring. Because russian didn't even knew about experiment and it feels like no one even takes it serious apart Breaking Bad baldie whose project it is.
It just feels lime they just try to insert as many mysteries as they can. Half of which will then lead nowhere.
it all makes sense by the end of the season,
although it is not necessarily a happy ending
the russians are not aware of the two realities,
they simply believe the astronauts are "crazy"
hence the anti psychotic drugs ( and the nut house )
they do imply that it is the observer effect ( red v blue car)
but by the end of the season, it is made obvious there really are two different realities
Yes, that jumping between times and realities is getting very annoying. In EPISODE 4 I just gave up trying to guess which reality we are in.
I can't be interested in what is happening and who I should root for If I don't understand in what reality out main character is. And what she wants. Specially in those stupid "future episodes in the cabin".
What I see is that she is neglecting her daughter. In both realities.
In EPISODE 4 when she doesn't know she is in different reality and thinks it's her own - we could clearly see that she doesn't really love her daughter that much. She left her for 1 year to go to space. Then attacks verbally HER TEACHER in front of daughter class basically telling whole class that teacher might sleep with her husband. And daughter has to go to school next day to be laughed at because kids will gossip. But she only thought about herself.
Then doesn't care about daughter being in stress with her behaving weird and hiding in closet.
But then in future time she is obsessed with getting her own daughter. To the point that she treats this timeline daughter like she is nobody and liability. Like she is some freak who is "not a real daughter", telling it to her face!!! And remember that this timeline daughter is just an ordinary girl who thinks this is her real mom. And then crazy mom tells her she is not and that mom must find "her real daughter". Can you imagine mental effect it has on child? But she doesn't care.
I really don't like main character. She is not a good mother. Her coldness and disinterest toward alternate daughter is just criminal.
hopefully you finished the season
*spoilers*
mamma got to see and speak to her real daughter, but they were not reunited
the mismatched mom and daughter know that they are mismatched, but agree to make the best of it
