I think the movie stunk but it also seems every review for it was awful as well. How on earth does it get a 7.2 rating. I'm really questioning IMDB rating system these days. What's their angle??

I just saw it and rated it a 7, possibly an 8 - As did nearly 50% of IMDb voters. Do the maths. Only people that hate a movie voice their strong opinions in reviews. Those like me who thought it was quite good don't tend to bother so much, hence why it's not as hated as you think.

Maybe because some people are not biased by the critics and love the movie (like me) so they rated it high. In my opinion, it should be higher.

It has a 75% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and most of the reviews I read for it were quite favourable. I'm really questioning your logic system. What's your angle??
I Sympathise with Lars Von Trier.
The majority of those one star IMDb reviews were from spam accounts that only popped up when the movie was released. Read over two or three of them and you'll see how they basically say the exact same thing with no understanding of what the movie's actually about outside of the general premise.
I'm sorry you weren't a fan but to be fair, Lars von Trier isn't everyone's cup of tea but for a reason.
That thing you said about the one star reviews is right on point. I liked the film.

People make too big a deal out of IMDB ratings. The opinions of a whole bunch of people don't matter if the majority of those people MIGHT very well be total morons.
But the caveat is, they're still more valid than a lot of the INDIVIDUAL opinions of "critics" who you KNOW are morons.
Suppose you're a scientist doing serious research on evolutionary science and you get criticism on your research from a few or even a whole army of creationists, who have opinions certainly, but really know nothing at all about evolutionary science. Do you really care what they think? That's how I feel about a lot of IMDB users spouting off about movies they didn't watch or didn't understand.
