Having seen the movie three times, I'd say it seems doubtful. Everything she "does" (which isn't that much) could have been faked. She gets her tits sucked by a young woman, and that's definitely for real, and she very convincingly appears to put the whole of an erect penis into her mouth, though I think this is a hyper-realistic dildo. Most everything else she does is just your standard bodies slapping around/on each other. Very good movie, though.

I strongly suspect all the sex was fake. These are not porn stars and if they wanted to film real sex they would make it CLEAR it's real sex. Otherwise, why bother?

The girl that has all the SEX scenes in Part I is not Gainsbourg, but a younger actress named Staci Martin. She has the beautiful body of young Charlotte Gainsbourg and a more conventionally pretty face. I think if you're a hetero male, you'll like her--unless you're one of these American big-breast fetishists who wasn't properly weaned from your mommy.

If you think about it the "They would never do this, these are real actors!" line could have been used as cover-up for many real sex scenes done by the actors of the film. It is impossible they used body doubles and prosthetics for just about anything in the film, no tech exists yet to pull such a feat. Maybe just for the penetrating scenes, as it says in the end of part I. Besides it's just sex, they did not murder anyone did they.

In the 'extras' of this film, Charlotte Gainsbourg was interviewed. She was quite uncomfortable and shy with the questions (it made her very REAL and appealing). She said that under no circumstances did she or any of the professional actors engage in unsimulated sex in the film. She explains how Lars von Trier and the technies on the film "did wonders" with CGI, so that is was all but impossible to tell the difference between body double porn actors and the professional actors engaging in sex.

I think that Trier keeps pushing the envelope, one of the few directors out there doing that. It's this risk-taking that makes him one of the most in-demand directors anywhere in the filmmaking world. Actors from Europe to Hollywood jump over themselves to act in his films. He's a most unusual writer and director who makes truly artistic films.

NO. Sex scenes were real but porn-doubles "acted" during these scenes. Oral sex was filmed with dildo of course. When we see the intercourse scenes, it's all porn actors' doing what happenes down there, then they used some CGI as I know.

As producer Louise Vesth explained: "We shot the actors pretending to have sex and then had the body doubles who really did have sex and in post we will digitally combine the two... So above the waist it will be the star and the below the waist it will be the doubles."

First off, I'm sick of people bashing on Charlotte Gainsbourg. She's got a very nice body for a woman her age and I know that because I'M her age. I'd lay odds at 10 to 1 (maybe 100 to 1)that's she looks better naked than the wives or significant others of the guys bashing on her (or the women themselves that are bashing on her). She has the body of her sexy mother (Jane Birkin) and the face of her father (Serge Gainsbourg), but as ugly as he was, he had a lot of sex appeal and I'd say the same thing of Charlotte. I've seen her when she was young and she was just as sexy, if not as conventionally pretty, as Staci Martin.

She does NOT have any real sex in this movie. The closest thing is the teenage girl sucking on her nipples in Volume 2. If you really find THAT disgusting, I don't think you like girls.

I find it STUPID how people get offended by sex in movies that is actually less graphic than the sex they probably have in real life, or they get "disgusted" by an actress who by any objective standards is more attractive than 90 percent of the women they actually go with (with Staci Martin it would 99.999). You'd think they all only have sex with supermodels, and only in the missionary position with all the lights off. . .
