I love the literal-mindedness of the editing


A character mentions fishing = cut to random footage of a guy fishing. Joe mentions a hamster, cut to archive footage of a hamster. There was something immensely amusing about those cutaways throughout he movie. I don't know if it was supposed to be comical, but it was just so on-the-nose one couldn't help but laugh.

Seligman fading into the sea of books was especially funny.

Agreed. I liked those moments for the most part. While viewing I was wondering what other shows/movies have I seen that incorporate that style/technique. I am sure there are many, but the only one I could think of in recent years was Temple Grandin starring Claire Danes. Btw I like your Starry Night pic.
