So is this a rip off of Paranormal Activity?

Or a rip off of Blair Witch or a rip off of something else entirely?

reply

No, it's a movie in a genre called found footage. Is The Hangover a rip-off of Ace Ventura because they are both comedies?

"Why do people visit boards of movies they dislike to complain? Absolutely nothing else to do!"

reply

They are rip-off's of Ruggero Deodato's 1979 film "Cannibal Holocaust"!

reply

That's true! There are many 'found footage' movies but Cannibal Holocaust started it all. 'The Lost Tapes' sounds like a rip-off of Poltergeist, if anything.

Its becoming more and more common to see youngsters claiming these movies to be a rip off, Learn cinema history before claiming such.

It's yet another movie in a very old and long line of movies (starting in 1979) upon a real house that use to be in Amityville, New York (has since been remodeled to discourage idiots from gawking) that was the site of a mass murder and later a fake haunting story to use as an insanity defense.

"found footage" is now considered it's own genre from it's over use, if this movie will even use it, but the haunted house story is from well over 30 years ago.

Thank goodness they ditched the found footage idea... they already did it in "Amityville Haunting" anyway and that was horrid.

The house is still there and all they changed was the windows and the siding. Most people do that to their houses anyway. If I could've bought the house I would've left the windows.

CiCi: Oh, my bad. I thought you were someone else.
GHostface: That's OK, I am

reply

The house's street number was also changed. I never said the house was gone anyway; I said it was remodeled and the house, as it appear in the movies, is gone from Amityville.

I was responding to this:

So I apologize if I misunderstood. Yes it's like #108 now. It's hard to miss due to it being one of the few houses where the Front Door is sideways.

CiCi: Oh, my bad. I thought you were someone else.
GHostface: That's OK, I am

reply

Both those movies suck so good luck with this one.

I love how everyone believes the Blair Witch was the original found footage film.

reply

I don't, because I hate found footage films.

I am a gore watching freak!!!

If it don't have it, it isn't worth the watch.

reply

So do I. Not only do they just suck in general but they make me nauseous.
