January 6, 2017?

Is this a joke?

reply

Are they reshooting the entire movie? Lmfao

reply

Releasing it in January means that its going to be another pile of poop like Texas Chainsaw 3D

reply

Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D was actually quite good.

reply

It's Texas Chainsaw. They dropped Masssacre from the title for some reason.

With the way things are going, I wouldn't be surprised if January came around and then they say, "postponing the movie release to October 2018!!!"

reply

That's bad...

reply

Completely agreed. I feel like this, Rings, and Before I Wake are never coming out at this rate. Just going to keep postponing every time it gets closer to the next "release date"

reply

Sadly it doesn't appear to be a joke...but at least the proto-Joker is in it (or could this in fact finally be The Joker's origin story?) ;-) Which is one of the main reasons I want to see it (the other 2 being hottie Bella Thorne and my being a longtime horror fan, the last one is obviously not least lol).

Can't they just release this On Demand? Or someone leak it? With the movie Cell finally released On Demand and Before I Wake recently leaked (watching tonight!)...if only they could do one of those for this one, too ::sigh::

And release the latest Ring movie while they're at it. I know studios go bankrupt and the film industry is 99% politics, timing, and test audience horsecrap, so films will fall thru the cracks, but surely there's got to be other ways to release these films profitably than holding for a wide release that may never happen. Life is short, I could get hit by an ice cream truck tomorrow, and I want to see these movies before I die, dammit lol Watching horror movies in heaven is surely no fun (if its even allowed) :-( Seriously though, all these delays are ridiculous.

reply

Ugh, means it probably stinks. Getting the feeling it's another one of the trailer-better-then-movie films. Unfortunately, the trailer isn't too hot either. "Kill Kill Kill" repeated what? half a dozen times in the trailer? Give me a break.

reply

Wow! Why they been waiting on this sooooo damn long? It's ridiculous. I actually thought it came out already. Most likely it will do very poorly now since no one really cares anymore.

reply

I'm only watching it for Jennifer Jason Leigh. More seats for me to pick in the theater at least!

reply

probably get another trailer around halloween
"Touchdoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooown Auburn"

reply

This will come out the day the Bills finally win the Super Bowl!

reply

I wonder if this is going to be the longest period between a movie actually being made and it being released in theaters. Normally in situations like this they try to cut their losses by dumping it on demand or straight to DVD. It's gonna be hard to hide the fact that Bella's 3 years older than she was when she made this movie.

reply

Answering my own question here, but there have been a couple other noteworthy examples:

http://mentalfloss.com/article/57194/15-shelved-movies-were-eventually-released-years-later

The most recent ones I guess are "Take Me Home Tonight" with Topher Grace and Anna Faris, which was made in 2007 and released in 2011. Also "A Thousand Words" with Eddie Murphy which was made in 2008 and released in 2012.

In this case though you have an actress who's obviously changed a lot appearance-wise since making the movie.

reply

And she's loosing all her fame.
When by the trailer the film looks a bandwagon of the fame of Bella T, it must be insanely bad to be postponed this long. Now my hope goes for this being the next The Room (2003).

reply

This is one of, if not the longest delay ever for a studio movie.

reply

oh my friend, Dimension is specialist in this, CLOWN, CURSED, VIRAL, all of them delayed for 2 or 3 years, and DEMONIC AND KRISTY are still unreleased in states

reply

Yeah, Cursed (2005) was screwed beyond imagination.
