So this is technically Amityville 18? LOL

This "franchise" is out of control. At least this one is getting a theatrical release (although it's PG-13, so eff that). Any reason that so many crap filmmakers with an iPhone can make an Amityville movie and get away with it? Here's where the franchise currently stands:

The Amityville Horror / 1979
Amityville II: The Possession / 1982
Amityville 3-D / 1983
Amityville 4: The Evil Escapes / 1989
The Amityville Curse / 1990
Amityville 1992: It's About Time / 1992
Amityville: A New Generation / 1993
Amityville Dollhouse: Evil Never Dies/ 1996
The Amityville Horror (Remake) / 2005
The Amityville Haunting / 2011
The Amityville Asylum / 2013
Amityville Death House / 2015
The Amityville Playhouse / 2015
Amityville: Vanishing Point / 2016
The Amityville Legacy / 2016
The Amityville Terror / 2016
Amityville: No Escape / 2016
Amityville: The Awakening / 2017

The Amityville Exorcism is slated to come out in 2017 as well. Wow. WTF?!!

I think I read a little while ago that Amityville isn't actually franchise, in a way that all films are to be considered original films, sequels, remakes, reboots and so on. What I mean is that no one actually owns the rights to use the Amityville house as a story for a movie, so a bunch of random studios and producers just make them. Most are low budget, low quality films, and some are bigger Hollywood studio films. I am no expert, but I read something about this, so its not like Friday 13th or Halloween, because those are true franchises with actual sequals and reboots. Im pretty sure
